Todd Gilens is a visual artist making artworks for unusual sites and clients. His work focuses on language, images and ideas as real-world actors, shaping projects through dialogue with communities and other species, historical, material and cultural investigations.

He often enlists audiences and other specialists in project realization, drawing on learning theory, landscape history, and design process to encourage dialogue and refine understanding.

Todd has developed projects for transit systems, botanical gardens, arts and conference centers, abandoned factories and wilderness areas among others. His work is supported by residencies, sale of drawings and photographs, and by contributions from private foundations and public agencies.
